CD game exchange. there's 5 locations and they will give you a reasonable price. It truly is a buyers market, so don't expect to get rich, but they do give higher rates for in-store credit as opposed to cash.

It was Wherehouse on 82nd ave. That location just went belly up so to be honest, no where. Everyday will buy anything, but you aren't going to get shite for any of it.

Both formats are dying. CD's more than anything. Beyond that, half.com.

The continued proliferation of digitized, post-IP media distribution has greatly reduced the value of relatively cumbersome hardcopies. The local stores that buy and sell used media have failed to recognize this paradigm shift, and continue to overcharge for their wares. Due to this, the stores have become bogged down in goods, and are less interested in buying new used stock, resulting in reduced payouts for your CDs and DVDs. As the payouts continue to drop, and quality of used media coming in also falls, and the used media market continues to grow perpetually more stagnant, assumedly to the point of complete market collapse.

You might want to try Craigslist, or something.

Just did a record and Cd selling trip to Hawthorne. Crossroads gave the best price by far. Jackpot was lowest and CD Game Exchange was very specific.

    Place?

Welcome to 2010. We don't do "places."

Sell your CDs, DVDs and anything else you ever need to unload on the 'net. I personally prefer craigslist for the more immediate response and person to person contact, but eBay works just as well for some people.

(As an alternative to selling them, think about how much fun you could have nuking them in the microwave, or finding a nice secluded spot, having a friend toss them one of a time into the air, and blasting them to bits with a shotgun.)

I went through a bit of a CD liquidation a month or so ago, in order to catch up on bills. The only place that gave me a fair deal (about $3 per disc) was Green Noise Records on Clinton St. However they are pretty selective with the genres they buy.
The most of the rest of my CDs ended up being sold to Music Millennium where I felt like I was being ass-raped (about $0.75 per disc). The guy tried to give me this pity story about how the music resale business was down, and people are just dumping their collections and not buying, and blah blah blah. If it wasn't that I was so desperate for cash, I would have asked him why he was continuing to buy?, since (according to his story) odds are so good that the store will be stuck with my discs (many of which were out of print imports on labels like Bear Family that seem to get a pretty good penny in their store now). After that experience it makes me not want to ever shop there again. I don't hate them, but I think I deserved better treatment. At least pull aside the few discs you want to cherry pick and give me a fair price for them, rather than grab 300 and give me low lump sum and a sob story. It's insulting to treat longtime customers like that.

The truth is right now it's a buyers market. Even when I have priced trying to sell Cds on Ebay or Amazon the sale prices are so low that it's better to avoid the headache and just keep your discs and enjoy them.
