Where's the best public place in town to play table tennis? (Bar or otherwise.)

Rontoms is great. They keep their gear in pretty good shape, but a few times I went it seemed like it was friggin' league night or something. Too pro for me.

The Skyline Tavern is my favorite for setting. Sometimes they make crockpot chili too. Mmmmm.

you can't beat skyline tavern in the summer. bring your briquettes and meat and have yourself a ping-pong hoedown! they also have darts and horseshoes.

when it's 90+ in town this is the place to be.

I've found that Portland State University is the best public place to play. The club is open to the public. And there's usually a range of levels (though they tend to be on the higher end of the spectrum). They used to be in the Stott rec center, but now they're situated in the brand new rec center! Club times are 7-9pm Wed and Friday. Kind of crappy times. I haven't been going lately because of this schedule.

People also play at the Portsmouth Bar up on Lombard. On Mondays they set up the table in the ho-down zone, so there's more room to play.

Indoors @ Slabtown. Outdoors @ the Nest.
The downside, they each only have one table...

The Urban Grind at NE 22nd and Oregon (near Sandy Blvd) has a room with one table. It's a chill place.

Billy Rays on MLK has a table out back. Great for some late spring/summer outdoor pong.

Blitz Ladd has three tables, and is pretty chill just as long as you aren't afraid of 50 thousand tv's all playing sports.
Don't show up during a Blazer game, they tend to shut down the tables during that period.

Ron Tom's is good, Bumblekiss' is friggin' horrendous. I've never played at Zach's Shack, and I think that rounds out the list of Portland's Public Ping Pong Places known to me.

No place is great, and I don't think any place has more than one table. I hope other responders have better news/tips.
