What should I do with my cap 'n gown? I graduated in June.

And they've been sitting around for months. Black poly; blecch. Not so good for quilting. I'm open to crafty suggestions. If you'd like them I'll consider passing them on if you have an awesome idea.

Could be a funny Halloween costume. Liberal Arts graduate, holding a "Will read for food" sign?

Flatten them and place them inside one of those vacuume bags to suck all the air out of them. Then you can label the package and store it flat in your attic for at least 20 years without worrying if the moths got to them. Pull it out again in time to press the wrinkles out, and wear it to the class reunion!

Hang on to it for when you eventually give up on whatever journalism-humanities-nonprofit-foreign relations career you had in mind and start teaching high school. Then you'll get to wear it every year for your students' graduation.

Hang on to it with the assumption that you'll one day need it for the role of "Graduating student" in a short film. Then move out of your mom's house and forget about it forever.

Whenever I have graduated, the cap 'n gown was on loan from the school and shortly afterward we turned them back in. Did you have to purchase yours?

I'd think Halloween costume is a good reuse.

I used my gown as part of a Halloween costume until it ripped, because it was made of crap fabric. Then I just threw it out. I am not sure what happened to the cap. Maybe you could make little stuffed animals out of them? lol
