Northwest Parking Control experiences?

So today I received my first parking ticket from Northwest Parking Control.

I've Googled these guys and there seems to be general consensus that these guys are scamming. Their website is sparse, they provide no contact information/way to appeal your ticket and the only links on their page are to the collection agency they use.

Now I can't find any up to date information on these guys. I'm finding old forums and threads with people commenting "aww screw these guys, I'm not paying this blah blah"

HERE IS MY QUESTION: if you've gotten a ticket from them and you've decided NOT to pay it, what happened? I'm very resistant to sending money since this is not a government agency but I'm worried they will send their collection agency after me and my credit will be hurt.

Don't even bother calling them. In public spaces, only the CITY can ticket you. In private spaces, the company will either tow you ASAP (it's cheaper for them and keeps their ties with the tow companies strong), or they will have a ticket/note with their company name on it.

Pdxannon, they "voided" the ticket because you were on to the dubiousness of their claim, and it's easier to keep you quiet by pretending to "be nice and make it go away."

If I ever get one of these tickets, I will grief them for fun, report them, or ignore them... but I would never ever ever give them any money, nor should you.

Can't speak directly to "what happens if I don't pay" but I did just receive a ticket on my company vehicle which was parked as it has been for the last 17 years in the parking STAR PARK garage across the street from my shop. The ticket was in the amount of $44.50 (Parking fee: $10, Admin fee: $4.50, Penalty fee: $30). The reason is "Over Posted Time Limit" - which is not possible because it is parked IN A GARAGE (not at a meter) where I have my parking permit displayed on rear view mirror. I DESPISE Portland parking assholes so of course I was immediately pissed. I looked on the ticket for a phone number and finding nothing googled them. The are listed as a debt recovery company which is super sketchy. I called and a man (pleasantly, I admit) said that yes, sometimes their "parking people" are not the brightest of the bunch and to simply send over a copy of my parking pass on letterhead and he would take care of it. That was three days ago. I called today and received confirmation that it was indeed voided.

I have a feeling they don't have a leg to stand on and perhaps ticket people in the hopes that they'll just send in money to avoid hassle. After this experience, I would highly recommend calling them asap and politely requesting it be voided for whatever excuse you can come up with. The experience was actually much better than I have ever had with any City of Portland jerks.

    Hope that helps!
